Free Online Training on Skills-based Volunteering

The Volunteer Center at Heart of West Michigan United Way  is a member of the HandsOn Network and Points of Light Institute, an international organization which inspires, equips, and mobilizes people to take action that changes the world. Our Volunteer Center is one of  250 affiliates serving 83% of the American population and 12 international communities.

HandsOn Network recently announced that it is taking its signature training and technical assistance programming - HandsOn University - into a virtual environment.  The first course which is aimed at an audience from nonprofit organizations and businesses is free.

The topic of the course, skills-based volunteering, is of interest to nonprofits that would like to access additional expertise to build their organizations and for companies that would like to make the most of their volunteer programs by lending their business skills.  This is the new wave of volunteering.
